Alonso says he expected Hazard to stay

Marcos Alonso has told Spanish radio station Radio Marca he never believed Eden Hazard would join Real Madrid during the summer.

Real were repeatedly linked with Hazard, who hinted that he was keen to leave Chelsea in order to join the La Liga club.

But his Blues team-mate Alonso says he always expected the Belgian to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Alonso said: “I didn’t see Hazard at Madrid. He is very happy at Chelsea.

“I don’t know if there was interest or not but Hazard and his family are very well there (in London).”
