Newcastle v Chelsea: Hazard and Kovacic start

Eden Hazard starts for Chelsea at St James’ Park, as does recent signing Mateo Kovacic.

Hazard, given an extended break after his involvement for Belgium at the World Cup, returns to the starting line-up having come on as a substitute in the Blues’ two previous games this season.

Kovacic, on loan from Real Madrid, also comes in, with Ross Barkley dropping to the bench along with Willian.

Meanwhile, Jacob Murphy starts for Newcastle in place of on-loan Chelsea man Kenedy, who is ineligible to play against the Blues.

DeAndre Yedlin returns at right-back for the Magpies – who make six changes in total – after recovering from injury.

Newcastle: Dubravka, Yedlin, Clark, Fernandez, Schar, Dummett, Murphy, Diame, Ki, Ritchie, Rondon.
Subs: Darlow, Muto, Perez, Joselu, Sterry, Atsu, Longstaff.

Chelsea: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Hazard, Pedro, Morata.
Subs: Caballero, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Giroud, Zappacosta, Willian, Christensen.
