Chelsea missed numerous chances as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the game at Stamford Bridge.

Thibaut Courtois: 6

The Belgian had almost nothing to do, and could not be blamed for Javier Hernandez’s equaliser.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 8

Took his goal brilliantly and defended with purpose and urgency, as well as instigating many an attack and using the ball smartly.

Gary Cahill: 5

Restored to the defence in place of Andreas Christensen, Cahill was solid enough but crucially was caught out for the equaliser, getting under a long ball into the box and not managing to get distance on his headed clearance.

Antonio Rudiger: 7

Another fine performance from the German, who has become a popular figure for his commitment, power and no-nonsense defending.

Victor Moses: 6

He saw plenty of the ball but was too often wayward with his final ball. Moses was solid defensively but needs to show more quality from the wing-back position.

N’Golo Kante: 9

The Frenchman was outstanding again, barely wasting possession and winning the ball countless times when he had no right to.

Cesc Fabregas: 7

Chelsea’s main creator dictated proceedings for much of the afternoon, constantly demanding the setting up plenty of chances – particularly in the first half.

Marcos Alonso: 8

Chelsea’s left-wing back got through a stupendous amount of running, impressing in both areas and almost grabbed the winner with a superb 20-yard strike.

Willian: 7

The Brazilian should have scored with a side-footed effort just after the interval and was threatening throughout without quite getting his delivery right, except for Morata’s disallowed goal after the break.

Eden Hazard: 8

Hazard caused no end of problems for West Ham, who bizarrely allowed the Belgian to have as much time as he wanted when he dropped deep. He created several chances but a reluctance to shoot and picking the wrong pass at the vital moment prevented him from turning a fine performance into a match-winning one.

Alvaro Morata: 6

Looked as sharp and strong as he has for many a week and was unfortunate to have a second-half goal wiped out for offside when he appeared level from Willian’s cross. His hold-up play was decent and he looked dangerous running with the ball, but he should have scored with a simple headed chance.

Pedro: 6

He had little time to impress but looked lively when he did get on the ball.

Olivier Giroud: 6

The big striker could easily have secured all the points with a late header and brought a presence to the forward line in the closing stages.
