Half-time: Tottenham 1 Real Madrid 0 – Alderweireld injured but Spurs lead at Wembley
Dele Alli put Tottenham ahead in the Champions League clash at Wembley.
Alli, who was suspended for Spurs’ first three games in the competition, poked home Kieran Trippier’s low cross after he was found by a sublime Harry Winks pass.
Tottenham lost Toby Alderweireld to injury shortly before the goal – the Belgian pulling up with what appeared to be a hamstring problem and was replaced by Moussa Sissoko.
Harry Kane, also returning to the side from a hamstring problem, twice forced Kiko Casilla to save but Cristiano Ronaldo also threatened at the other end after Alli broke the deadlock on 29 minutes.
A win for Spurs, who earned a draw at the Bernabeu last time out, would ensure passage to the knockout phase of the competition.
