Bolton v QPR player ratings

QPR are without a win in seven matches and are yet to win away this season, but they deserved at least a point from their trip to Bolton. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 1-1 draw.

Alex Smithies: 7

Didn’t have a great deal to do as Rangers dominated much of the game, but when called upon in the second half he produced an important save to deny Adam Armstrong.

Alex Baptiste: 7

A very solid display from the experienced campaigner, who saved the day with a couple of great blocks.

Joel Lynch: 6

Caught out on a couple of occasions but generally looks more comfortable in the centre of the back three than in the left-sided role.

Jake Bidwell: 6

A determined but mixed display. Generally defended well but Bolton had some joy down the right-hand channel. Bidwell also managed to get forward on occasions but his deliveries were off-target.

Pawel Wszolek: 7

Poor at times, heroic at others. The Polish wide-man made some errors and his final ball was sometimes terrible, but he was involved in much of Rangers’ best work going forward and also got through some phenomenal defensive work.

Josh Scowen: 8

Excellent. Ferocious in midfield, where he won countless challenges, covered plenty of ground and used the ball really well. He was denied a goal by a save in the first half and was always in the thick of the action.

Massimo Luongo: 7

The Australian’s midfield partnership with Scowen is impressive. Luongo worked hard throughout and helped drive Rangers forward in the second half, when they might have won a penalty after he went down under a challenge in the area. And his lovely ball to Conor Washington set up a great chance for the striker, who should have scored.

Luke Freeman: 7

Always looked to create and in the end it came as no surprise when his umpteenth delivery into the box led to a Rangers goal.

Ryan Manning: 6

Was working hard and having a reasonable enough game when he was taken off seven minutes before half-time after boss Ian Holloway opted to make an attacking change by bringing on Washington.

Idrissa Sylla: 7

Won’t win any prizes for his work off the ball, but he does win points with his goals – and did so again with a cheeky finish from Freeman’s cross.

Jamie Mackie: 6

Showed plenty of endeavour as always but, aside from one decent chance he was unable to take, Mackie had a quiet game before going off in the second half.

Conor Washington: 6

Stretched the Bolton defence and certainly made a positive contribution when he came on, but he missed a real chance when sidefooting wide after being found by Luongo.

Matt Smith: 6

Did what was expected by making a nuisance of himself after being brought on in the second half. It almost led to a goal for Sylla before the equaliser eventually arrived.
