Smith annoyed by sloppy Brentford defending

Brentford boss Dean Smith bemoaned the poor defending which led to his team losing 2-1 at Cardiff.

The Bees were ahead through Sergi Canos’ goal but Cardiff hit back in the second half.

“We started the second half sloppily. We gave the ball away and they broke,” Smith said.

“We then gave away a sloppy corner and weren’t physical enough to stop the goal from that corner.

“If we’d kept them out for another 10 minutes or so I think we would have gone on and won the game. We should have won.”

Brentford, 12th in the Championship table, are next in action on Friday when they host Derby County.
