Voges returns to Middlesex for new season
County champions Middlesex have re-signed Adam Voges for the new season.
It is the fourth time Voges has been at Lord’s as an overseas player, following his previous stints in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Last season, injuries and Australia commitments restricted his appearances, with James Franklin standing in as skipper in the latter part of the campaign as Middlesex won their first title since 1993.
But this year Voges will be available for 13 County Championship matches and all eight Royal London One-Day Cup group games.
He averages over 61 from 14 Championship appearances and, in his last appearance for the club in 2016, hit an unbeaten 160 against Hampshire at Merchant Taylors’ School.
Angus Fraser, Middlesex’s managing director of cricket, said: “Inviting Adam back was a simple decision.
“On each of the occasions he has been with Middlesex he has been outstanding in every way and he is just the sort of character I want playing for our club.
“In the past two seasons selection for Australia has reduced the amount of time he has spent with us but this season we expect to see far more of him.”
