Henry close to agreeing QPR deal
Karl Henry appears to be close to signing a new contract at QPR.
Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told out-of-contract trio Henry, Clint Hill and Alejandro Faurlin after the end of the season that they were not in his first-team plans.
Hill and Faurlin subsequently left the club, while Henry could be retained primarily as a squad player.
Talks have been ongoing in recent weeks and it looks increasingly likely that the 33-year-old will stay.
Henry has made 102 appearances for the R’s since being signed on a free transfer from Wolves in 2013.
Hasselbaink is very keen to keep Junior Hoilett, whose QPR contract also expires this summer.
Hoilett told the club he wanted to leave in order to join a Premier League side, but his representatives have since indicated that he could sign a new deal after all.
Meanwhile, QPR are interested in Legia Warsaw midfielder Ariel Borysiuk and are pursuing deals for Brentford left-back Jake Bidwell, Huddersfield defender Joel Lynch, Metz winger Yeni Ngbakoto and Lille forward Sehrou Guirassy.
Rangers have also spoken to Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven about a potential deal to sign John Bostock.
Former Tottenham midfielder Bostock, 24, is keen to secure a return to England this summer.
The R’s begin their pre-season campaign with a friendly at Aldershot Town on 1 July.
