Transfer gossip: Sterling fears for his City future, Mirror say
Raheem Sterling fears for his future at Manchester City, the Daily Mirror claims.
The 21-year-old from Harlesden, who joined City from Liverpool only last summer in a £47m deal, is said to be suffering from a crisis of confidence.
It is suggested Sterling feels his natural game has been stifled by manager Manuel Pellegrini’s accent on two-touch football, which is likely to become even more pronounced under successor Pep Guardiola.
Sterling, who was with QPR between the ages of nine and 16, is “privately struggling for self-belief”, the Mirror believes.
He scored 11 goals in 42 appearances in his debut season at City, and is likely to win his 22nd cap for England in Friday’s friendly with Australia.
