QPR consider next move in Samba chase

QPR were this afternoon considering whether to table another bid for Blackburn defender Chris Samba.

Rangers manager Mark Hughes, who signed Samba while Rovers boss, is keen for the centre-back to join him at Loftus Road.

But Blackburn have rejected all approaches for Samba and insist he is not for sale, leaving the QPR hierarchy to discuss their next move.

Tottenham are also interested but are yet to make a formal offer for the 27-year-old, who has made it clear he wants to leave.

“You make bids and obviously you reach a point where you draw a line when you think it’s not going to progress,” said Hughes.

“We’ll have to look at each deal in isolation and make judgements on them as and when we feel we need to walk away from things.”

Hughes is currently trying to persuade Chelsea’s transfer-listed defender Alex to swap the top end of the Premier League for the bottom.

Further discussions are set to take place with the Brazilian, and Rangers will make a sizeable offer to Chelsea if Alex indicates that he is prepared to make the move.

“There are still conversations going on there,” Hughes confirmed.
