News in brief: Foxes dominate Terry’s team of the year, QPR crest, Chelsea youngsters sell-out
John Terry
The Chelsea captain revealed that he has nominated Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez for the PFA Player of the Year award, and Tottenham’s Harry Kane for Young Player of the Year.
Terry posted his completed form on his Instagram page, also revealing that he had selected seven Leicester players – Mahrez, Kasper Schmeichel, Robert Huth, Wes Morgan, Danny Drinkwater, N’Golo Kante and Jamie Vardy – for the Premier League Team of the Year. Chris Smalling, Ryan Bertrand, Dimitri Payet and Kane complete Terry’s XI.
Chelsea Under-18s
All tickets for Friday’s FA Youth Cup semi-final, second leg against Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge have been sold. The Blues are 1-0 up on aggregate going into the match, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
Chelsea Ladies
Kick-off for the WSL game with Arsenal on Thursday 21 April has been brought forward to 6pm. The derby will start earlier to allow Arsenal fans to watch both their women’s and men’s teams, with the Gunners’ men facing West Bromwich Albion at 7.45pm.
QPR
The new club crest will be unveiled on Friday 6 May, on the eve of Rangers’ final Championship match of the season.
Rajiv Ouseph
Feltham’s world number 21 badminton player received a walkover into the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open on Thursday after his scheduled opponent, third seed Kento Momota, withdrew having admitting to illegal gambling.
Momota, the world number two, has been stripped of the chance to represent Japan in the Rio Olympics and has flown home from the tournament to assist with an investigation. Ouseph will play qualifier Christie Jonatan in the last eight.
Cameron Steel and Robbie White
The two Middlesex second XI cricketers put in good performances for their respective MCC University teams. Steel scored 56 for Durham MCCU against Durham, before being removed by Graham Onions, while Ealing-born White made 30 for Loughborough MCCU in their match against Kent.
Fran Wilson
The Middlesex Women’s batsman top scored with 62 but England Women’s Academy lost to Australia A in Sri Lanka, the final match of a tri-series between the three countries.
