Half-time: Chelsea 1 PSG 1 (Agg: 2-3) – Costa gives Blues fighting chance
Diego Costa hauled Chelsea back into the Champions League round-of-16 tie by scoring 10 minutes after Adrien Rabiot’s goal.
Willian exchanged passes with Pedro and set up Costa, who showed great composure to shift the ball away from Thiago Silva and fire into the net.
Paris St-Germain, 2-1 up from the first leg, scored after 16 minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Angel di Maria played the ball into the penalty area and Zlatan Ibrahimovic drifted away from Branislav Ivanovic before crossing low from the right for Rabiot tap in.
Ivanovic had earlier prevented a PSG goal by sliding in and clearing the ball after Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois had been beaten by Di Maria’s angled shot.
Once in front, PSG seemed to be in control but Chelsea battled on and were rewarded when Costa netted his 11th goal in his last 15 matches.
Ibrahimovic had a chance to restore his team’s two-goal aggregate lead but headed straight at Courtois from Lucas Moura’s cross.
But Chelsea gave as good as they got, with Fabregas shooting wide before Trapp gathered a shot from Eden Hazard.
Costa returned to the side after being passed fit, as did Pedro and Kenedy.
Fabregas also returned to the starting line-up. The Spaniard is partnering John Mikel Obi in midfield, with Nemanja Matic dropped to the bench along with Oscar.
Subs: Begovic, Baba, Matic, Loftus-Cheek, Oscar, Traore, Remy.
