Eagles bounce back with victory over Manchester
Ruislip Eagles responded to last week’s defeat to Cambridge with a confident second-half performance against bottom side Manchester, winning 39-25.
After 15 minutes, the Eagles pulled into a 9-3 lead, with Sven Moeckel providing firepower from the back.
In goal, Jeremie Boullanger saved a penalty and multiple free shots from the line, but some sloppy defending allowed Manchester to back into the match at half-time, when the Eagles led 16-12.
After the break, their renewed focus saw them quickly establish a 10-goal lead, while Boullanger made some more brilliant saves, allowing only a single goal in more than 10 minutes.
After this dominant spell, the Eagles were able to experiment with different defensive line-ups as they emerged victors.
After the game, coach Marc Fayemi said: “This was a definite improvement on last week’s game, as well as on some other poor performances in away games this season.
“We now need to focus on the remaining games and make sure we build on our better performances.”
After a week’s break, the Eagles will face Cambridge again, this time in the EHA Cup quarter-final.
