Holloway explains Manning’s absence for QPR’s win
Ian Holloway said he left Ryan Manning out of QPR’s matchday squad against Reading because he felt Ariel Borysiuk deserved a place on the bench.
Youngster Manning is not injured and had to watch Rangers’ 2-0 win from the stands after boss Holloway decided not to include him among the substitutes.
Manning is set to feature in next week’s League Cup game against Northampton Town.
“He was not selected because I think Borysiuk has done so well,” Holloway said.
“Ryan has been fantastic and is a great fella to have around, but so is Borysiuk.
“It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I’ve been delighted at what Borysiuk has been doing – it gives me one hell of a problem.”
Borysiuk failed to impress Holloway last season and was sent back to his native Poland on loan to Lechia Gdańsk soon after the Rangers manager’s appointment.
QPR were looking to offload the midfielder on a permanent basis but Holloway decided he wanted keep him after being impressed with Borysiuk in pre-season.
