Fulham v Reading player ratings

Fulham were embarrassed at home to relegated Reading and are not yet mathematically safe from the drop themselves. Here’s how we rated the Whites players in their 4-2 defeat.

Mark Schwarzer: 6
Didn’t do a lot wrong and his team-mates should shoulder the blame for Reading’s four goals. He made a number of saves and without them the Royals would have finished with six or seven.

Sascha Riether: 5
Looked short of his best, albeit on his return from injury, and both Jobi McAnuff and Hal Robson-Kanu capitalised on space in the channels around him.

Philippe Senderos: 5
Failed clearances and long, wayward diagonal balls forward were the dishes of the day from Senderos.

Brede Hangeland: 6
The same can be said of Hangeland, although he had a marginally better time of things up against Pavel Pogrebnyak, keeping the former Fulham man relatively quiet.

John Arne Riise: 5
Had a very poor game and was eventually substituted for Kieran Richardson. It was Riise’s clumsy foul on Robson-Kanu after 11 minutes that concede a needless penalty, with Robson-Kanu moving away from goal as he was tripped.

Urby Emanuelson: 6
The on-loan AC Milan midfielder was unable to get on the ball as much as he would have liked, with Fulham constantly struggling to keep hold of possession and build attacks, but he was their most threatening player at times.

Giorgos Karagounis: 5
The warhorse had perhaps his poorest spell in a Fulham shirt. He was dragged around the middle of the park by the energetic duo of Danny Guthrie and Jem Karacan, before being substituted for Hugo Rodallega on 28 minutes.

Eyong Enoh: 5
Started brightly, showing his dogged tenacity to win the ball back for his side and distribute quickly, but he faded as the game wore on and was eventually non-existent.

Damien Duff: 5
Was especially poor; unable to make any sort of penetration down the right-hand side and is evidently still searching for fitness after recently returning from injury.

Bryan Ruiz: 6
The Costa Rican was unable to find space in between the opposition back four and midfield where he likes to operate and was sloppy at times, but finished coolly for both his goals.

Dimitar Berbatov: 5
Berbatov had a poor game by his usually high standards, which he often maintains even when Fulham aren’t playing well. His day was summed up with a tame volley from close range late in the game that sailed well wide of the target.

Hugo Rodallega: 6
Worked hard to make a difference after he was introduced half an hour into the game for the struggling Karagounis and he was influential in Fulham’s first goal, setting up Ruiz.

Kieran Richardson: 6
Was more effective than Risie when he replaced the Norwegian just short of the hour mark but he was still given a rough time by Robson-Kanu and McAnuff.
